This was sent to me by a trusted source - who got documents from the county (Surrey County, NC) and found some things on MY Roberts - sent a full trancription of those - and I got someone else in another state to do a look up and they sent me verbatim the same info. (two people were unconnected) All her other info has been good - and would like to make a connection to my Roberts line - which is what we are documenting now.  Seems that everything is proving John Roberts (father of Jane) to be the son of my George Roberts.  THAT connection is going to be "preponderance of the evidence"  as John is too common.  He is named in his fathers will - and family stories say he "went to North Carolina" - but do you know how many John Roberts there were in NC????  This John is a neighbor of a Burris and a McCraw - Burris and McCraw are given power of attorney by my proven Absolom Roberts of Hawkins County TN - where the rest of the Roberts clan moved.  Absolom's wife is a Hampton from S! urrey County - so had to have been in Surrey County for a reason - like his Uncle John living there - one of John's daughter married and moved to Hawkins County, TN where the rest of the Roberts are and two of John's granddaughters married in the Coldwell/Caldwell line  - which John's sister Dorothy married into.  This John is the only Roberts in that part of the county at that time - (and there are some other circumstantial pieces of evidence) so this has to be the correct John Roberts.
