Jane Brackbill, 79, ran cafeteria
Jane Y. Brackbill, 79, of 79 Blaine Ave., Leola, died Tuesday night following a long illness at ManorCare Health Services, where she had resided since March.
Mrs. Brackbill was the first manager of the Pequea Valley High School Cafeteria.
She was a member of Leacock Presbyterian Church, Paradise, where she was a former deacon, Sunday School teacher and superintendant of the junior department. More recently, she was active in the Cross Roads Class and the Women’s Association for many years.
She was a former member and office holder of Farm Women’s Society 7, Paradise.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and flower gardening.
A 1936 graduate of the former Paradise High School, she attended Lancaster Business College.
Born in Salisbury Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Luetta M. Sheaffer Young.
She was married to E. Herman Brackbill for 59 years on May 20.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Evelyn B., wife of Olin Jarrett Jr. of Newport News, Va., and N. Marie Brackbill of Leola; a son, John H., husband of Marlene Lehman Brackbill of Hampton, Va.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy L., wife of Ray M. Young of Peach Bottom.
Her brother, C. Everett Young, preceded her in death.
